Lab Guide for Amazon EC2 Instance Isolation Challenge

To assist you in passing the challenge, below are the solution:

- Navigate to EC2 and **Auto Scaling Groups**

- Click auto scaling group name, and click **Instance management** tab

- Select instance, click **Actions**, click **Detach**

- Click **Detach instance**

You should be able to pass the check:

- Navigate to EC2 and instances

- Select instance and click **Tags** tab

- Click **Manage tags**

- Add tag, case-insensitve

The tag is used by other checks to identify the instance. Later checks may fail if this check doesn't pass.

- EC2 > Security Groups

- Create Security Group

- Name it either 'isolated' or 'Isolated'

- **Delete** the rule from **Outbound rules** section

- Add tag

- **Create security group**

 - Navigate to Ec2 Instances

- Select instance and click **Actions** > **Security** > **Change security groups**

- Select **Isolated** group and click **Add security group**

- Click **Remove** next to the **cloudacademylabs-** group

- Click **Save**

- Navigate to Ec2 Instances

- Select instance > **Actions** > **Security** > **Modify IAM role**

- Select **No IAM role** in dropdown and click **Save**

- Enter text in confirmation dialog and click **Detach**

- Navigate to snapshots > Create snapshot

- Select **Instance** and the instance id

- Add tag

- Click **Create snapshot**

- Navigate to instances > Actions > Image and templates > Create image

- Name must be **Compromised** case insensitive

- Add tag

- Click **Create image**
