This lab guide will walk you through the steps necessary to complete the lab: Migrating MySQL to PostgreSQL With the AWS Database Migration Service
In this lab you will use DMS to migrate data from a database instance running the MySQL engine to an instance running the Aurora PostgreSQL engine.
Always ensure that the lab environment has setup 100% prior to starting:
Log into the AWS console using the provided credentials for the lab session.
Once on the step 'Creating the Source Endpoint', go to 'Database Migration Service' and click 'endpoints'.
- Click 'create endpoints' and ensure the values entered were as stated in the instructions.
- In the' Endpoint type' section of the 'Create endpoint' form, ensure 'Source endpoint' is selected, Check the 'Select RDS DB instance' checkbox, and in the drop-down box that appears, select 'mysqlsource':
In the Endpoint configuration section of the form, select Provide access information manually, In the Password textbox, enter SourcePassword123
In the VPC drop-down menu of the “Test endpoint connection” (optional) section of the form, select the VPC that ends with cloudacademylabs, In the Replication instance drop-down, ensure lab-replication-instance is selected:
Click create endpoint, you should see below confirmation:
Test the connection by selecting the endpoint you have created and then actions and test connection:
Lastly click run test:
This should result in a status of successful after a few minutes and will let you pass the validation check for the step:
