This article describes the search tool you can use to find interesting content in the training library. You can go directly to the training library to access the search bar at the top of the screen, but the search bar also remains in the top toolbar while you navigate through most of the application. So, you can type in a word and begin a search from wherever you happen to be in the app.
For tips on what to enter in the search bar, see Optimizing Your Search.
Search Toolbar Tools
After you enter a search term and press enter (or click the magnifying glass), the search results appear.
You can use the platform to the left of the search term to filter the search results by platform. You can choose to see results related to:
- Amazon Web Services
- Microsoft Azure
- Google Cloud Platform
- All Platforms
You can use the Sort by option to the right of the search term to sort results by Most Relevant or Most Recent.
Filtering the Search
In addition to the tools at the top of the screen, additional filters appear on the left side of the search results screen.
The top category filters the results based on the type of content. The number to the right of the category shows how many results match that category.
If you click one of these filters the search results change to show that content type. For example, if you click Learning Path, the search results show the learning paths related to your search term. See Using the Different Content Types in Cloud Academy for a description of each content type. You can filter on only one of the Content types at a time.
After Content, filters related to Difficulty appear:
Unlike the Content filters, you can select multiple Difficulty levels to include in your search results. As with the Content filters, the number next to the Difficulty indicates how many of the search results match that difficulty.
However, if you already selected a different filter, such as a content type, then the numbers you see here only include the count of how many of the search results match both that content type and the difficulty level. For example, if you'd already chosen to filter based on the Quiz content type, the number next to Beginner would indicate only how many beginner-level quizzes were in your search results. Likewise, once you choose a Difficulty filter, the numbers next to the Content values change.
Finally, a set of Domain filters appears:
The specific values you see in the Domain section varies on which domains are represented by the results of your search. The full list of available domains is too long to list here. However, it is the same list that you can find and navigate in your Skill Profile.
As with the Difficulty filters, you can choose more than one Domain to filter on by selecting the checkbox next to the domain name. The number to the right of the domain value is affected by any Content and Difficulty filters you already applied.
Once you have added a filter, a Clear filters option appears just above the first search results. You can use this option to clear all your filters, including the Platform filter at the very top.
